Spreading the Word: Getting Stuck (and Unstuck) in the Negatives

Psychological research has shown that our minds are naturally more inclined to tilt towards the negative, the loss. Negative news, negative information sticks in our thoughts and it takes more mental effort on our part to get unstuck from that frame of mind. But it is not impossible. In this short, insightful and, in my view, uplifting talk, social psychologist Alison Ledgerwood shares her investigation and personal experience in observing negative thought patterns and training ourselves to get unstuck from them. Enjoy!

Keeping up the “Spreading the Word” tradition, every weekend, I hope to share with you an article I’ve read or a video I’ve seen and considered to be inspiring and insightful. I feel it is important to take good care both of our physical and mental well-being. Humans have always turned and returned to storytelling to find meaning. My weekends’ “Spreading the Word” posts are an online version of sharing meaningful stories.

keep exploring and storytelling!
