Spreading the Word: the Art of Looking and Seeing

In this week’s “Spreading the Word”, I continue the exploring journey theme and share with you an article from a website I’m subscribed to. It`s an article about the book “On Looking: Eleven Walks with Expert Eyes” by a cognitive scientist Alexandra Horowitz. After reading this article I was so inspired and intrigued that I immediately ordered the book (and realized that I am running out of shelves at home…). The author of the book lives in New York and tells a story of taking a walk around her familiar city block with various experts. In other words – with various pairs of eyes (and other senses) that look and see the same city block in very different ways. One of the experts is her own dog! It turned out to be an enriching and a humbling experience. This idea resonates so well with my previously mentioned quest for exploring the unknown in the familiar, I just had to share it with you here 🙂

Enjoy!

a different perspective: refreshment for the four-legged city strollers, my photo

Keeping up the “Spreading the Word” tradition, every Thursday I hope to share with you an article I’ve read or a video I’ve seen and considered it to be inspiring or enlightening. I feel it is important to take good care not just of our physical but also of our mental well-being. Humans have always turned and returned to storytelling. My Thursdays’ “Spreading the Word” articles are an online version of sharing worthwhile stories.

keep exploring and storytelling!
